I recently interviewed for software engineer 2 position in Microsoft and I have cleared 3 rounds and felt strong from my side, but then HR informed me that there won't be 4th round for me and the feedback was not on stronger side. Even the interviewer in 3rd round wished all the best for next round.
Just want to understand what might gone wrong.

They will give it to you, and in my case it was the same range for both of the companies. (Hospice oncall nurse here👋). Then you fit in somewhere on that continuum based on education & experience—that where the negotiation comes in—they will make a case to place you as low as possible on the scale.
