Additional Posts in Salary Negotiations
Im not searching for a new job but an acquaintance reached out about a similar role at a similar energy company.Turns out 2 ppl threw my name in the hat. I looked into it and the position was posted 2 weeks ago.Their director wants to meet.I bet pay is one of the first things to be discussed so that no one’s time is wasted.Am I crazy for not wanting to entertain it for less than 20-25% base pay increase? Is it selfish to ask for more? I’m sure most salary conversations end in negotiation anyways?

That honestly seems like something you should have worked out before you made the move. The cost of living in your new city shouldn't have been a surprise. The response from your company is also no surprise, companies tend to give raises based on someone's value to the company. They see things like the cost of living as the employee's own business and not their concern.
Might be time to look for a new adventure.
If you moved at the request or as a favor for your employer, then yes, I believe you should be given a wage high enough for you to be able to afford to live there. But your employer knows they have you where they want you because you're in a strange city without any other job prospects.
Maybe you’re up for a promotion or raise in the coming round and they’re saying, “don’t ask now … you’ll get more later”?
You’ve been there 6 years …
Yeah. I wouldn't ask anyone to cut off a connections just on my account. And like I said it can be remedied.
I did the same thing except I check the cost of living before moving. I explained the 17% increase from where I was living to the new city. They gave me the salary I asked for. After I moved and started with they hired an assistant for me, whom I trained and developed their new services division they wanted. Unbeknownst to me, I was training my replacement. The terminated me without any reason except "it's in the best interest of the company." They paid my replacement $27k less per year than my salary. Now I can't land anything and money is almost depleted.
Due diligence is critical before moving. Lesson learned.
Bye Felicia to them lol

Lesson learned: Negotiate before moving.
Yes. I was not given a fair hearing.
That response is unacceptable. They don't get to tell you how to handle your personal life which pay is a big factor. If they're in position to not worry about money they should give you the raise.
No no no it's that she didn't respond at all. Unless we say that indifference is the bottom line at the end of the day. But it isn't. To refuse to show up for me, to let me try, not you, the tools, and then we'll talk, is to deprive me of a fair hearing.
Unless you're a mechanic or dentist, there is little legitimate reason to make you relocate. That your employer made you do that surfaces their fundamental cultural deficeit. Find a better employer.
I don't want to dismiss the possibility out of hand. It is true that men get bored very quickly.
