I said yes to a task I had no clue how to do. I figured it out. It wasn't perfect, but it worked.

When was the last time you learned by doing rather than knowing?

That’s awesome—jumping in and figuring it out as you go is one of the best ways to learn. I agreed to write an article for a mate without knowing what it was about and what he wanted. Biggggg learning curve

Diving in headfirst really does teach you fast. Some of my best skills came from those “oops, better figure this out” moments.

Not work related, but I've been wanting to replace the mirror in my bathroom since we moved in 3 years ago. My husband has yet to get around to it, so I decided to watch a youtube tutorial and tackle it myself while he's traveling for work this week. And now there is a currently a 5 inch hole in the drywall that I'm also youtubing how to fix before he gets home 😂

DIY bravery! I once tried fixing a leaky tap after watching one video—flooded the whole bathroom. But hey, we learn by doing, right? Fingers crossed your mirror (and wall) make a full recovery before your husband does!

Honestly when I train up new people I always ask them to give it a go and then if they’re still stuck I’m here to help

I interviewed at a law firm and had my final round last Friday. The Tuesday afterward, I got a call from the recruiter saying the firm won’t have a decision for another week. I believe they’re interviewing other candidates. Does that make me second or third choice? And does the fact that I’m working with a recruiter hurt my chances of being selected due to the commission? Should I hold out for the offer or is 1+ week a sign that I won’t be selected?

NYC office: NYC tax on paycheck, easier commute, possibly higher pay?

Greetings from Madison, Wisconsin. I'm a reporter with more than 32 years of experience and I feel that, lately, local television news has been kind of dead, but I am pleased to fight for it from my local newspaper. Locals love to see someone from their own town succeeding or finding out something inspiring.

I am a firm believer that this will not change for a long time, local TV will continue to live as long as we stand for it.
