I took a much needed break from my career since October feeling completely burnt out. I moved, finally have my kids in middle school and high school, finally bought a house and everything was coming together after a rough year of changes, health and loss. Realizing my kids are grown enough that I can get back to my career, I’m ready to get back to work now but after several interviews, I have no offers yet. I’m worried that I lost momentum in the midst of a wild labor market. What now?

Keep at it. It's rough out there with people applying to anything that pops up in an hour. I've had several interviews as well and nothing has been offered yet. I'm probably competing against you! There are so few jobs and so many talented people out there looking.

As someone who is on the hiring end, dont get discouraged. Make sure you represent yourself well as a brand like with your portfolio site and resume so people get an idea of who you are. People are applying but not all have the talent, skills or also previous work history to be applying to the levels they are (at least from what I have been seeing). Also as a manager I can def respect someone who knows when they need a break to get other things in order. These past few years have been rough on so many and we need to give each other grace. The no offers may simply be things like positions closing unexpectedly or also some not so great recruiters (or recruiter turn over too). Don’t give up!

I'm an IP Attorney for a global Fortune 500 company. I only focus on IP mainly patent prosecution, Right to Market searches, Patentability searches, Landscape Searches, advising the business on IP related agreements.

What are some secondary skills or speciality that could make me more than just an IP Attorney? Do any of you have other parts of your title? Just looking to grow and my head isn't super interested in that, but the CLO is, but doesn't know where he sees a gap for me right now.

After 5 years as an AE / Sales Manager, what are the next possible career paths?

I love sales and wish I could stay as an individual contributor, but I feel like I am not getting anywhere with the salary i want, and the job itself I feel isn't using all of my potential/skillets (plus I'd like to learn and put into practice more).

So I'm really keen to hear from others what steps they took in their career to get into roles they love doing now but still within the sales side of an organisation.

Any attorneys in the Bay Area practicing just in estate planning (not litigation), can you give your take on whether you would get enough business to do only planning? I'm currently doing family law and I want to start moving away from litigation. For family law there really isn't a non litigation role that produces enough business (i.e. mediation). I do okay, but definitely have to take on more litigation than I prefer. I was thinking estate planning might be a good addition to the mix.

which is fair, and to show my credibility I published my first app last week, but I’m still getting similar messages from recruiters this week. Idk what to do??

I just got a job offer for an Entry Level Software Engineer at Boeing in Saint Louis. The salary is $82,000 with an $8,000 sign on bonus. I was hoping for an offer closer to 90k base and I don’t care too much for a sign on bonus. However, this is a lot more than what I’m making now, and would be my first SWE job. Should I counter? If so, how would I go about doing that? Thanks!
