Don’t be a boring person, go on adventures, workout, have hobbies. Work should be a vehicle that enables you to follow your passions, don’t be defined by a job, cause a job will leave you as soon as you’re not useful no matter how much you love it.

Define finance money.
There are tons of jobs that fall within finance that pay really well, with work life balance.

You’re hitting on a lot of the major indicators. Depending on firm and what they may be going through, sometimes things need to change on the fly and wlb might shift. There’s always going to be a level of chance that the job doesn’t align to the interviews. You should be able to pickup on that through the conversations you’re having with the team.

FP&A is pretty cushy and pays well

consulting is good money and offers flexibility in types of projects somewhat. And can be a lot of WFH or travel sometimes

Consulting has pretty long hrs though. Especially in Big 4 or a large firm.

Speaking of finance, I assume you understand supply and demand, right? Nearly EVERYONE wants a job that pays well, has good WLB, and that they enjoy. However, because the supply of those jobs are limited, and everyone wants them, they are extremely competitive in any industry.

Unless you come from money, you're probably gonna have to suffer through some jobs that you don't really want to do. Embrace the suck and and learn as much as you can from your early career jobs to leverage into either a better job or save the money you earn to start your own business.

Need to be more specific on what finance money is and cost of living area.

You can make a ton in enterprise analytics, trading, investment banking, treasury, financial analysis, etc.

I'm getting a MAcc to career change to forensic accounting. What opportunities are available to me with a data analytics heavy MAcc? I'm also tacking on 2 graduate certificates in Applied Statistics and International Economic Policy? For those in the field, would that be useful or not useful (i.e. waste of time)? I'm interested in investigations but also analytics, financial modeling, and expert witness services. Throw in salary potential for bonus points. I'll be getting my CPA, CFE, and CAMS.

I realized a slow pace at work is really bad for me. A couple years ago I was experiencing burn out from my fast paced job supporting transactions, and believed by moving to a slower job in a lower cost area, I would be sailing off to the sunset. Wrong, I spend weeks following up with other teams, often times they forgot what we discussed, so I spent 50% if the time reminding them of the topics and next steps. I spend most of my time writing memos no one will read.
