Look up General Assembly. They have classes from UX design, data science to graphic design. There are other companies that do creative classes too. Look into Dabble for basically anything you can imagine and Skillshare for online classes. There are a bunch of others out there too.
Where are you? Maybe I can help look 🙂
If you can afford it, find a career coach.
Try an improv class and iO. It will give you energy and make you feel connected to something.
@associate creative director 1 what is iO?
@PM it's what used to be named Improv Olympics. But as you might guess, the Olympics TM made them change it.
I'm not building any useful skills where I am, and the projects are lack luster at best. I look at listings for places to serve as a goal, but I get discouraged at how much work I'd have to do to get there. I don't know how to balance my energies so that I have time to grow on my own. I'd quit to spend time on myself, but I have bills and I'm not exactly miserable...just stick going no where fast. The thoughts are racing, depressions getting bad again...
Help. I feel useless and pathetic but I know I can do this.
Are there any classes around you that you could take? I’ve found that signing myself up for something helps me both stay accountable and focused on my goal (which is also advancing my career)
@Digitas...hm. I never thought of classes. I wouldn't even know where to look for those.
Wow thanks Digitas! I'm Chicago based. Is there a Classpass for classes like these?
ClassPass for learning is a genius idea
I also take classes not to advance my career but to help with the feeling of not wanting to do anything but be a lump outside of work. Look into member sketch classes at Art Institute (not for artists-totally no pressure just for fun) or language classes (Cervantes Institute or there are a couple of French learning schools).
@AS1: I honestly have no positive thoughts about career coaches and I’d rather put my money into actual therapy that at least gets covered by insurance.
