I want to experiment with luxury sales, and although I have great work experience in traditional sales, none of my applications for luxury sales roles are getting responses. The only reason I can think of is that I don't have the whole 'at least 3 years of previous selling experience in a luxury retail establishment'. What does one in this situation do?

Breaking into luxury sales without direct luxury experience is definitely tricky, but I don't think it's impossible. One approach could be to really highlight any premium or high-touch sales experience you have even if not luxury branded, and show how you’ve built relationships and delivered tailored service. Try networking in luxury circles and maybe doing some short courses on luxury brand culture or customer psychology can help you stand out.

You can't change your experience, but you can shift the focus of your resume to frame your experience by highlighting factors like service and customer relationship. If you've been involved in guiding people toward high value or complex transactions, highlight that. You should try to approach organizations where you might be able to get the experience that is more aligned with luxury sales.

I agree with retooling your resume to highlight areas complementary to luxury sales.

You have to know someone. Try pharma sales first to get a higher ticket product and then parlay that experience to crossover into luxury.

Do most tech/SaaS companies make prospective employees sign NDAs? I'm interviewing for the first time in awhile and am entering into a final round with a company who wants me to sign an NDA prior to the interview. I'm hesitant to do so - especially since I am not sure if I even want to work for this company yet. Is this standard procedure?

Is it a red flag if, after almost two years in a full quota carrying and selling role I want to take a lower role at another company in order to break into a field (tech sales) I want to work in? It’s better pay - closer to home and at a company with a better reputation?

“Job hopper” and “quiet quitting” are all schemes made up by boomers to make you think everything is the employees fault. When in reality people are just getting out of bad situations. Older companies do whatever they can to pay you the least amount and get the max work out of you. Except our generation will just leave amid we’re being mistreated, not complain for 35 years making 50k and 0 advancement.

I had a job interview for a role that I really want. The hiring manager scheduled me for an interview and did not show up. Emailed me an hour later stating that he got super busy and couldn’t attend, and would like to reschedule. This is a major red flag, but I can’t help but feel that I am missing out since this role pays 50% over what I currently make. Should I let the recruiter know? What’s your take on this?

Hey FishBowl Friends, so I’m currently trying to break into tech sales/FinTech and I feel that due to my previous work history, I might not look like the ideal candidate on paper but I’m an extremely fast learner and very coachable. I’ve been a manger at a gym, got my degree in finance, worked as a client advisor at a top 3 auto dealer in the nation and now I’m a project manager at a solar company. I really want something that’s remote and steady, any recommendations on how to spruce myself up?

My company blames my generation for not being able to hire everyday. “You guys don’t want to work” coming from some overweight, racist, old coaster. I’ve barely taken any days off this year and pick up “skeleton crew” days any chance I get. I was able to work out a deal with my company before I came because of prior experience luckily, but they offer a terrible base salary and sham of a commission structure to new hires + no remote. Then sit here and can’t figure out why…
