I graduated in 1991 from an associate’s degree program with an 66year old (Former) LVN. She showed us all that no matter how long it takes… reach for the stars and follow your dreams. She worked hard her whole life raising her family and made a promise to herself that before she retired she would become an RN. The day she walked across the stage was the same day she started retirement. I am just now going through the BSN to MSN Bridge program. So no, you are not too old. None of us know what tomorrow will bring so just do it. ❤️
You are never to old to achevieve your education goals and I am 46 and in school, age is nothing but a number
GO! I went back and was the oldest mid 40’s and masters graduated at 50. Best thing I have ever done. I am a mental health therapist and love it. Just do it!
You’re gonna be 39 in a couple years whether you go back to school or not. If you want to go, just do it and don’t worry about your age.
Rising Star
Exactly this! It’s better to go for it than to regret not doing so in a few years!
I have been an LPN for 6 years, I am currently in a LPN bridge to RN program, I am 54. You're going to be 39 whether you back to school or not. As far as starting at the bottom of the ladder, thats not really how it is in nursing. Yes you start as a new grad but within a year, no one cares if you're new or not. I have had charge nurses that were nurses for only a year or two. There are so many opportunities in nursing for brand new nurses and long time nurses. Go for it!
Bro I was an LVN for 9 years, then at 39 went back for my RN. The only thing that’s stopping you is yourself. Got out and chase your dreams!
Rising Star
Go for it! I don’t think anyone is ever too old to take on new opportunities!
I only want to say one thing: I went back to school at age 54 and took medical coding. I graduated and passed my certification exam, just trying to find a job. You're not going to be anywhere near too old. And also, I WAS the oldest person in my classes and it was great! I learned so much from my younger classmates.
