I want to move positions within my company. I’ve been told to talk to my manager first to let him know before I start networking or applying to jobs. Any tips on what to say or not say?

The answer probably has a lot to do with how your manager is as a person. That being said, if it’s what you have to do then you have to do it. I’d be thankful for my time, and then start outlining some reasons I’d like to move on. Don’t overdo it, just keep it to the basics and hopefully they will be supportive and maybe even be able to give you some feedback.

Great advice thank you! I am prone to over sharing so I will try to stick with the basics!

Ask them what the process is and how movement in the company works as a part of career progression. You may also like to start with HR who may have some insight

Always happy to help! Best of luck.

If your manager doesn’t come across as supportive, proceed with caution. Some companies have policies that you don’t have to tell them until an offer is on the table. I’ve told my staff my goal is for them to grow and not feel stuck in the same position. I’ve “lost” good people by happily providing recommendations for their internal interviews.

I’ve been fortunate to learn from great managers of my own.

Hello, I was wondering about which companies usually hire for entry level ServiceNow role?

I’m currently doing large scale Oracle ERP implementation and I am having difficulty finding companies that hire entry level roles. I switch fields recently so I only have around 9 months of experience and I find that most ServiceNow position requires 2+year in ServiceNow :/

Background - I recently got the Certified System Administrator for SNow, PMP and CSM

Any insight appreciated, thanks!

Hi Guys,

I need referral for Cisco for Project Specialist role. I am pursuing MBA from Tier 1 Bschool.
I have 3y8m of work experience in SAP from TCS.
Any help will be appreciated.

I'm an accounts receivable expert with 8+ yrs of experience. I started with 96k per annum in 2014, and have worked with 4 different MNCs since then. Currently I'm getting approx 9Lpa, and it feels like I'm pretty much stuck here. Switching jobs increases the pay scale, while staying for a while reflects stability.

When I look at the other member's comments here, it seems majority of folks are earning 20-30Lpa or even more.

Any suggestions from mature audience to achieve a big pay raise.

Will an MBA set me apart? I have a BS in Marketing from top 15 undergraduate business program with a 3.8 gpa, 2 years work experience (3 by the time I’d enroll), and scored in the 63rd percentile on the gmat. This qualifies me for an average business school (ranked below ~50). My goal is to move into a management position within the next 5 years and eventually move into a director or c-suite role. At your companies, do most upper-level marketing employees have an MBA? Is it from a top school?

I’m interviewing for a start up and the role sounds interesting. Usually for the “test” part of the interview I’ve had to analyze data. This company wants me to develop a growth strategy that outlines key initiatives for growth, different opportunities, experiments I’d run, KPIs, and working cross-functionally.

Is this a lot for an interview?

I’m a little afraid of doing all this work to then just have them take my ideas and not hire me.

Hello! How can I break into the creative branding industry with 3 years of basic marketing knowledge, a self made website, and an extensive sales background in the CPG industry

I have worked in marketing for about 6-7 years. First few years were in social media management. My goal is to work at a big tech company.

I’ve heard mixed results about the ROI of earning an MBA. My near future goal is to move into a Marketing Director (or senior manager) role.

1) How much does Google, Amazon, Microsoft, etc. value MBAs in the hiring process?

2) Anyone currently working at the companies above with only a BBA?

Current situation: Marketing Manager, 90k, NYC.

I recently accepted a job that I quite overqualified for because I’m in need of a job. I got hired as a Marketing Manager and work directly with the Marketing Director. Come to find out my director is still in school and has absolutely no marketing experience. She’s been with the company for 4 months. They seem to want to utilize my complete skills set and make up for her lack of marketing knowledge but maintain her position as director and pay me a entry level marketing manager salary. Advice?
