Most companies, especially larger or more progressive ones, are very accommodating when it comes to religious attire. I’ve worked in both tech and healthcare, and in both industries, HR was supportive from day one. During onboarding, I mentioned that I wear hijab for religious reasons, and they noted it without any issue. That said, I have had a couple of awkward moments-mostly out of curiosity or lack of awareness rather than malice. Sometimes people ask questions about my hijab, but I try to see it as an opportunity to educate. I’ve never been asked to remove it or change how I wear it, even in client-facing roles. If anything, clients and colleagues have been respectful, and a few have even expressed admiration for my commitment.
Wear it for the sake of Allah and Allah will make it easy for you.
I wore hijab and abayas without any issues, don’t fear the creation - Allah is more deserving that we fear Him. I did get treated like an outsider at some offices but honestly it did not phase me and we should make it easier for the next generation of Muslim women to feel comfortable. Be a pioneer and cover as we’re instructed in the Qur’an and Sunnah.
Well said!!
