I would have loved that opportunity instead of just being laid off. Of course the whole situation sucks, but it is great you have the chance for an internal movement. I would look into that AND the job market.
Chief
My friend was in this situation and they ended up getting a job like 3 days before the time was up. Theyre still there today
I feel like you will never get over the fact the form didn't want you and that fear will constantly lurk
Are you British? No one uses the term redundant in Canada. People won’t know what you’re talking about.
Oh.. that's how I was informed ..so..
Pretty sure I know the firm lol
Yes it is okay to move across the firm to a different role and team. Why wouldn't it be
But I'd probably not bank on there being enough openings for that. Would look far and wide outside as a first option

It is ok to move internally. A few years ago I knew a very good sm who just didn't have a path to grow further in client facing roles so he was moved internally as they preferred keeping him vs losing him. He also had the maturity to understand the situation he was in. Good luck with your decision
Cheers 🥂
Which firm and what team? What's your level and YOE?
Team is taxation,, SM, 9
Sorry this happened! There’s no shame in taking what you can get in this market though.
