I was offered a year long contract with an in house tech company with a salary of 250k and healthcare benefits. Which sounds a whole like full time just without the stock options. I typically make a lot more freelancing but the market is giving me the jitters. Can anyone tell the future and let me know if I should take this or not?!

Definitely take this and continue freelancing on the DL. Don’t use the company’s computer for the freelance though.

If I was offered a year-long contract for $250K, I would drop to my knees and sob for joy, right in the middle of the street. I would not care who sees me. I would shake my fists at the sun and yell, I F*CKING knew I was good enough. Let it rain! LET. IT. RAIN.

I agree take that right now I’am too considering the swing back to FT just to ride out this market it’s been such a rollercoaster the last few years. I used to think I would never go back FT because it would never be as much money as freelance. But this market also is giving me jitters so ideally a FT like this with some freelance on the side sounds prettttty good right now.

Yup, take it and if you have free time continue freelancing using a diff comp. 🤓👍 the market is chaotic like our economy.

That health insurance alone is worth its weight, tbh. And look, it’s a contract so you can scoot at any time if it doesn’t work out.

Take it!!

If you’ll somewhat enjoy it definitely take it in this climate. Freelance isn’t going away

Ok I’m going try and push for a higher rate but ultimately I’ll take even if they say no. Thanks for the clarity everyone!

Do it. I just sold my soul to a holding company and feel great about it.

Saying this as someone who left a gig exactly like this TO freelance (the only difference is that I did have stock options), in a great market period where I knew I could command freelance contracts.

I would absolutely take this, zero questions, right now. Are you joking? I honestly wonder if this is a troll post.

That’s like 1k/day. What if they cut you sooner? And, are you going through a staffing agency or are you billing straight into employers payroll?

They also pay part of your income taxes with W2, right?

I recently joined Swiss Re at 30lpa, pretty good manager and work culture. Got a hike of 10% in 3 months without me asking for it. But got an offer from another company which I was interviewing for before joining here and they are offering a base of 45lpa. Now I am unsure how I convey this to my manager coz I want to stay here but at the same time I am salivating over this new offer and wish I get similar numbers here. Is it worth raising a discussion? If yes what would be a subtle way to do so?

Why are you even organizing it? You think people would come from far places just for lunch?
