Honestly? All of them. It's nice to know that the higher-ups appreciate my efforts, but at the end of the day, I don't spend time thinking about my awards. I just did my job and got commended for it, no big deal. Also definitely not gonna flash my medals when I retire.
Medals and awards don’t really mean nothing to me. In my eyes, COAs, AAMs, and even ARCOMs don’t really mean much considering that during my time, our S1 awarded themselves AAMs for doing their job, people who handed out water during a marathon run got COAs but the runners got nothing and I would bust my butt on deployments to get work done to get an ARCOM but the senior NCO who did 20% of what I did gets a Bronze Star. It’s all promotion points and show off apparel to me.Rank gets better awards
Yeah I think this is a common sentiment among servicemen and women. The whole purpose of what we do is not for personal gain or attention. We are often not good at accepting these awards, especially when we all know people who have lost their lives doing the work we do.
