Not sure if this has been the experience for everyone, but some of the people I had to share a space with were truly insufferable
Some real sleazy people certainly make their way into bootcamp sometimes, but that's why not everyone makes the cut

Having to show respect to an incompetent, egomaniac drill sergeant was a tough one to get through
I've met my fair share of people like that, it's kind of a rite of passage I suppose
The Gas Chamber, it never gets old...
Oh boy it's always a treat seeing the "tough" guys try to make it through that one
There's a lot about how the military mind works that is counterintuitive to someone who hasn't been in that environment. It takes a while to break down what you think you should expect and start conforming
Those first few weeks are a bihhhhhh, not everyone has the mental fortitude to make it through the hellish training and the constant berating from superiors looking to break you.
Nothing worse than having to deal with mass punishment. It sucks when you get punished for someone else's actions but it's even worse when it's your fault and everybody knows it
It was a little different (all of us veterans say this) when I went through in the 90s. However, the number one challenge for me was the people. Not everyone joined to do their best. I even had tough times with challenging myself. Some people were mediocre at best. I felt like some challenged themselves to be better and get better everyday while others were there to simply get a paycheck which was fine. The drills would go after the weak ones to try and get them to quit. Some of the drill sergeants were an older crowd and some were even Vietnam era dudes. They were solid and taught me alot.
