I work for Ssm health, recently had to start short term disability due to serious medical condition. I was approved for it and been receiving short term disability payments and benefits. Today HR sent me a letter stating i was terminated due to not being approved for short term disability. I have the letter stating I was approved. What should I do?

Call a lawyer for sure. But also file the complaint with HR and keep track of all of your communications. Don't talk on the phone without a lawyer present. Communicate over email as much as possible.

Contact your local department of labor and tell them you've been wrongfully terminated. Show them your proof. It will be cheaper (free), than contacting a lawyer.

Show them the letter. If they won't acknowledge the letter, then that would be the time for you to engage the services of a lawyer. That's already a form of discrimination.

I've not had experience in this but I would first take them the letter proving you got approved for time off. Then I would make a call to a lawyer.

It's sad to see people with 2-3 years of experience getting paid more than you when u have double the experience. 😄 Best part is they are still complaining of getting less.
