I work in a small firm. My work ordered a book shelf and a desk. My boss is great, but one of my coworkers keeps saying they hate my setup. I'm on the other side of the office, and we are in seperate rooms. I'm ignoring them. Is this normal? They have told me this everyday since I set it up.

I agree that the person is being ridiculous. But if they just won’t shut up about it, then address it, indirectly at first and then directly if you have to. Lighthearted comments like “then it’s a good thing this isn’t your office” or “well I’m glad at least you like your own setup” should hopefully get the point across if this person is not completely dense. A little more direct could be “thanks for your input, but this setup works really well for me and I like it.” If they persist in their negativity, directly ask them to stop, like “I’ve heard your comments but I like this setup and am not going to change it, so please stop criticizing it so that we can focus on more positive things.”

I have been ignoring them. It seems like everyone in the office dislikes them, and I guess I'm getting why.

like

lol - sounds like they’re trying to get under your skin. Ask yourself why. Likely doesn’t have anything to do with the setup, because that is just too ridiculous. Curious how this plays out tho!

like

lol. Not normal. Just ignore them.

They hate your setup as in they're jealous, or they hate how it looks? Either way, what?

So i have been fortunate that i have managed to go through my career without the need for a degree. I was lucky enough to have been hired by one of the worlds top consulting firms, worked with a whole lot of big clients and travelled a lot. It's gotten to the point where I am not even asked about the lack of a degree on my resume. Personally though, it bothers me. I have a whole bunch of certifications in my industry…but just no formal degree. (cont'd)

I am a new (lateral) associate at a small firm where everyone currently works from the office. When I started, I wasn’t told specific firm hours. I’ve tried to figure out when to come and go based upon when the partners arrive and leave, but their schedules are very inconsistent. The other associates don’t have helpful guidance for me. Assuming that if I ask the partners they’ll say to use my discretion, what are reasonable hours to keep?
