I worked as a copywriter for Dentsu in 2020 and after 1.5 years I decided I wanted to work freelance. I've had no success finding jobs except for really cool, AI-related contracts through Upwork and eventually, I started to just go with the flow. #.5 years later, I want to go back to being in a more agency structure. Do I have a low chance at getting a job? What can I do with my book so that the gap isn't going to hurt my chances?

Anyone looking at traveling to Costa Rica? They have a list of states from which they will admit tourists while also requiring a negative covid test, health history, etc. As someone not on the approved list, I am bitter and curious why the population is grouped at a state level when there are massively different rates of infection within each state (not to mention personal responsibility) and you are already required to present a negative test. Looking to exit from 195k base to a sales role base 140 + 40 in guaranteed bonus year 1 to make up for the lengthy sales cycle. Am I particularly uptight, or is writing meant to be done alone, without a partner talking to you? With past partners, we chat through script notes and then I go off to execute. Current partner likes to sit and chat as I write. To me, writing is crafting a conversation. So I can’t talk to you and simultaneously talk to this audience. Of course I can just say “I’m gonna go write.” But since we’re both CD level, I’m like…is this his first rodeo? Maybe other writers are different though.

Are puns always bad? I like them as cheat codes for making boring things slightly more entertaining. I don’t want to spend hours thinking for a line for a social post we are just doing to fill up a content calendar

Is it a red flag to interview with a potential new agency that I'd have to move to a different state for and they never give you a chance to ask any questions or fly you out to meet in person?

When non-ad ppl ask you what do you do? In terms of title; do you tell them “copywriter”? Or immediately assume they dont know and might confuse it with copyright infringement, and just end up telling them that you’re a writer or a creative director, and skip the hassle
