1. Depends on your project and your business unit. If you are joining Consulting, depends on your client, Relationship Manager and rest of team. If you are joining ISL/ISDL, depends on your product, but generally wlb is better in ISL/ISDL. Flexible shifts, no timesheets and work how you like.
2. Three days a week office, unless you are working from a client location, in case you are joining Consulting. For ISL/ISDL, three days a week is mandatory. Managers get bi-weekly reports of swipe-ins and can take action depending on their mood.
3. No job security in Consulting. 60 days in bench (without any upskilling and training undertaken) and you will be let go. In fact, unless you have been hired for a specific project, you have to run from here and there to get your first project, and it is quite a tedious process. Relatively more job security in ISL/ISDL, but there is a 10% PIP policy (unofficial), which has been put in place. 10% of the workforce will go to PIP mandatorily every year and can be fired. But they are going after US, Europe and China employees first because they get paid more than Indians.
4. Yes, when on bench, you need to search for a project yourself. No one runs after you with project opportunities anymore. In any company. You will have a dedicated HR and/or manager assigned to you and you will have to co-ordinate with him/her. Also, there are internal portals for project openings. A system is there in place.
5. 7b can be an individual contributor or a team lead or a manager in some cases as well. In Consulting, 7b is rarely an individual contributor, is mostly responsible for lead activities, and takes on management/mentoring activities on occasion. In ISL/ISDL, 7bs are mostly individual contributors.
