If a recruiter approaches me for a position, I just applied to on my own through the website this morning what do I need to do? Would the recruiter still get paid if they apply for me? I don’t want to recruiter to do the work if they don’t get paid but I am also not sure if I have a better chance of being short listed if the recruiter presents my resume.

Haha

If you already applied, the recruiter can’t help you.

Go on fishbowl and find someone willing to refer you. An internal referral is better than a cold application or a recruiter

C1, thank you

If you already applied there's nothing they can do to get a fee

Like others said, they can't help if you have already applied. I would just let them know you already applied through the company site and thank them for their time.

I interviewed at a law firm and had my final round last Friday. The Tuesday afterward, I got a call from the recruiter saying the firm won’t have a decision for another week. I believe they’re interviewing other candidates. Does that make me second or third choice? And does the fact that I’m working with a recruiter hurt my chances of being selected due to the commission? Should I hold out for the offer or is 1+ week a sign that I won’t be selected?
