Ah, by design, a purely performative solution to a problem that doesn’t require anything so heavy handed. Sounds like cannesvertising to me.
I don't really understand that point of these safe zones at Cannes festival. And I am someone who supports women only cars in metro systems.
While I think there is no harm in rolling out safe zones, here are my questions- do people go to the safe zones to report they feel uncomfortable because of someone and then that someone is kicked out of the festival? The festival might be gated but Cannes the city and many of the festival activities aren't gated. There are also many non-ad people in Cannes, too, during this time. How would this idea of kicking them out work?
Is that person then reported to their job? There are thousands of people coming in from all over the world. In some workplaces and countries that uncomfortablility (even if wrong- btw uncomfortable does not equal SA) might be very acceptable where they live/work. So, are the safe zones governed by French cultural and law standards? I think the Americans will have a rough go at understanding the cultural differences in what's considered appropriate/uncomfortable.
If there is an issue of crime, call the police.
Safe zones feel like a false promise of safety. Unless they are actually medic stations and will provide people with much needed hydration and other medical attention.
Glad cannes the festival is attempting to be proactive in safety. But this doesn't feel like the way to go. Or am I missing something? Would love to discover I am wrong and learn how these zones do improve safety.
What I read was "report uncomfortable" not harmful. Harmful, I was assuming, would be a police matter.
But maybe the safe zones are to unpack racism too? Which is harm, but if it's only words, it's not criminal. So will the staff be trained in this form of harm reduction?
Agree. Who has been installing all these safe zones at events and universities? It’s such a weird thing to do…

No progress in our critical thinking skills, no.
💯
Who’s the equivalence of Diddy at Cannes? Someone spill some tea.
We all know.
Will any of these safe zones be near the gutter bar?
Someone had better show Macron where this “safe zone” is.
I actually thought it was a joke because I saw a Reel on it on Agency Problems.
Will there be AI safe zones too?

Can someone provide a little more context? Are some men at Cannes harassing women all the time? What kind of behavior are we talking about? Can some women here share some examples?
Strategist 1, thank you. I appreciate your kind words.
It was a Cannes Lions Festival gated event hosted at one of the beaches. Had to have a wristband for the party itself to attend - not just the beach. I don’t want to name them but it was a big closing party.
I thought they were for neurodivergent people.
All Cannes should be safe.
See my comments to Creative Director 1. Nothing was done when I reported what happened to me last year. And I didn’t know who else to report it to. I’m glad for the safe zones this year.
