If I could go back, I wouldn’t go to law school. Not because I’m bad at it, but because I genuinely don’t like it. Anyone else feel like they got tricked into this path because they were good at school and needed a “prestigious” next step? What would your path be today if you could do it all over again?

No. Going into law was a second career for me. I work as an engineer before law school.

Talking to friends who were K-JD. I never once thought about law school until I was like 25.

I don’t regret going but I do regret my choice of school. I know many lawyers who don’t practice law (some never did).

I wish I became an astrophysicist. It was my original dream but my parents talked me out of it

You were literally a starry-eyed child.

I wanted to be a pizza chef.

I got pushed into law because I come from a poor family and knew taking care of my parents financially would fall on me eventually. Now I’m kind of stuck because of the student loans I need to pay. If I could do anything I would either find a way to use my sociology degree, maybe as a consultant, or I would go into interior design.

I definitely was pressured to choose between doctor or lawyer by my parents. I would be a therapist if I could start over!

No. I’d do it again in a second. I’m also happy I rounded it out with a joint degree. JD/MBA was was a very good decision for me.

Anyone know when Ch. 7 BKs must close by? Is this changed by when there are adversary proceedings (alleged fraudulent transfers made to a bank for CC payments)? Asking for my friend who is unfortunately involved bc of his parents, who are the debtors (he isn’t a defendant or a debtor in this, but the payments were made to a CC in his name—a CC he didnt know was opened in his name).

Its in Texas, and the initial BK filing was made about 23 months ago. TIA!

I’ve practiced litigation in DC for about 5+ years at a larger plaintiffs’ firm, and am considering a switch to a defense firm. For reference, the firm has a 1900 billable hour requirement and the partner said I would have “no problem” fulfilling that based on the work they have.
