Why do you want to lateral into biglaw if you’ve “succeeded in the real legal world?”

Never made it to big law. Successful in house career. A lot of networking, clawing, and luck

A5 and SC1: Love it. Way too much emphasis on “top law schools,” “Big Law,” “my gpa,” etc. You guys can actually get things done!

Totally depends who you are competing against for the role, at which firm (some more snobby than others), if you get the help of a good recruiter, which partners you work with can matter, etc etc.

Need and scarcity will override gpa concerns for sure though

I managed to end up in BL despite my poor LS record but I feel pretty lucky. Basically just always working hard, doing a good job, and being nice to people - so I was in a good spot to seize opportunities through former colleagues. In other words, knowing people.

Hey Bowl,
I work for a late stage(ipo) start up, earlier this year we were acquired & since then they got rid of our yearly bonuses and gave us an ESOP grant.
2 RIFs later we are almost bare bones. Since we are coming up on our usual yearly evaluations many of us assumed (with multiple conversation from our managers) that pay raises and promotions were due.
In a recent All hands we found out that this year there will be no pay raises nor promotions based off merit. Is it time to jump ship?

Advice and/or consolation anyone? My wife and I (both above average health 30year olds) were trying for 11 months before getting pregnant and then had a week 5 early miscarriage a few months back. If the stress and surprise of just how difficult it apparently is to get pregnant wasn’t enough, the miscarriage put us over. We got back to it and have been trying for the last 2 months again, still no luck. We’re freaking out… all we want is a family. Any similar stories? Advice? 😢

Looking for guidance: Can a company require its employees to sign a confidentiality agreement prohibiting disclosure/discussion of their individual wages/salary information? Does this run afoul of the NLRA (specifically Section 7)?

I need an assistant/paralegal. Probably part time at first. I live/work in a small city in Oklahoma, solo practice. I would like approx 10 billable hours/week (if part time) from them. What do i look for in one? Pay amount? (Most here make around $12/hour). Incentives for bonus money?

I feel like I may have been written off by the one partner, still get a fair amount of work from another and the third has never really given work but has a rep for doing things alone or using seniors.
