If you have used an SSRI while practicing, how was your experience? Did you find it helpful or did it slow you down?

I’ve never practiced without one, but considering it made me content with my mere existence, I’d say it helped.

Prob not the answer you want to hear but yes, in the sense it made me less fearful, and thus less likely to care so much. This shows in I’m less likely to stay up very late to finish work (unless absolutely necessary) and more likely to leave it to the next day. It also shows in me having less fits of crying and minor panic attacks, so when I am working it is more productive. Overall, I think being medicated made me a better attorney (I’m more balanced, calm and thoughtful), although I can be more loosey-goosey with deadlines (none of this actually matters!!!). FWIW, I went on one when I was a 4th year (still like $100k+ in student debt), and I’m 10 years out now (debt free) and being promoted to counsel soon.

The job. I added the part about the debt to flag that I had skin in the game. In a pre-medicated version of myself, I would judge someone who wasn’t 100% invested 100% of the time and probably think they had a trust fund or a rich spouse and work was all just a game to them. That was not me then and still not now.

It helps with the stress, I find

No, but it’s because my depression & anxiety were rooted in undiagnosed ADHD. Vyvanse got rid of my symptoms way more effectively. But I support people getting meds they need in any case. This job can be so bad for mental health, so why not use modern medicine to survive it.

Yes and they did basically nothing. Adderall has helped way more

We have motion sensor lights in my office and the sensor is far from my desk. Consequently, if I'm on a long WebEx, the lights go out and it's embarrassing. The building won't change the sensor. Anyone find a solution for this (aside from standing up and moving, which would be very awkward)? I can't rearrange my office.

My SO adds very little to our relationship. She has a dead end job. I cook. I work. I oversee finances. I plan trips. She doesn’t have a voice in the relationship. I’ve asked her to give her perspective but she always defaults to mine bc she thinks I’m smarter/worldly. She feels intimated by me and my social circle. Lately, I’ve found myself thinking for her. Anticipating her wants and needs and then adjusting my behavior to meet them. Which she appreciates but it’s frustrating 29M 27F

I’ve asked for work but no luck. I know they say this is normal for a stub but when should I start getting worried and consider looking for exit options? Fyi, I like my practice group, so I don’t want to change to a different group within my firm, hence would have to lateral, if I have to. Also, other co-1st years are churning in high hours.
