Sign On is usually for joining a company, not so much for changing roles.
But no harm in asking. If nothing else, ask for a performance bonus and you help set up the KPIs that will be used to measure your success.

That helps! Thank you
I know it's not standard, but I would certainly try to advocate for some type of bonus or raise. Especially if you can demonstrate value to the company and loyalty. Maybe some more PTO time, or stocks? They may not give you a sign on bonus because you're not technically signing on, but they'll probably give you something because it's way cheaper to hire internally than to bring on a new employee.

Good point about it, saving the money to hire internally. Hopefully, I can demonstrate that one day soon.
Agree that I only see a sign-on bonus for initially joining the company. That doesn’t mean you can’t negotiate on something else though. Maybe a market adjustment or even whatever the base is. Things that wouldn’t make sense would probably be anything with benefits or PTO if staying in the same company.

I’m keeping this in mind for sure. Thanks!
I mean you can always ask for it because in my opinion it doesn't hurt to ask, but I have never seen them give a sign on bonus for moving to a new role in the same company. However, I would definitely negotiate your pay. It never hurts to ask for more and let them say no or counter you.

Yeah, that’s true. I always feel like companies probably counter more often than except what the employee is asking for.
Absolutely!

Oh really you’re one of the few that implies that this is possible. Thank you.
