It sounds like you are the only one standing in your way.
Not at all! Talent is talent, my friend. We still have creatives in their 60s here.
I’m older than you and I’m killing it. No, you are not delusional.
I’m in my 60s and turning down work. You’re good!
Go for it and kill it!
Not even close! Your experience makes your faster and more valuable than ever.
Do your thing!
You are not too old!
I LOVE this post.
SO not delusional. I’m 60 and judging by my W2s, had the best year of my life. You’ve got this!
congrats. go kill it.
Same boat, OP
Not Old. 50’s is smart, experienced, resourceful, confident and gritty! We know more, do more, make more and say no more. Best years yet in my career!
OP!!!!! What awesome news. Whenever I start a new gig, I feel like (and am) the oldest creative in the bunch which makes me feel shy. Then when we actually start the work, and I hear what the kids managing me honestly don't know what they don't know, I feel proud of myself and remember I have so much value and tons to offer. I think it's all about finding the right ECD who will see your value and let you do your thing. What if we all stopped even mentioning that we are old? You don't hear the kids saying, "I'm just a junior...mid-level...senior, etc." Nev-er! Because there is this idea that their youth somehow puts them ahead of us, they don't think of it as a handicap. (Am I allowed to say handicap? Anyway, sorry if I'm not).
Go for it!
