I’m 51 years old. I thought I was done with a career in advertising but decided to send my book to a couple of independent agencies whose work I respect and to my surprise, both are interested in talking. Now I’m contemplating the possibility of moving to other states and restart life in a different place. Am I delusional? Am I too old to pretend I can keep up with the fast pace of this business? On the other hand I feel so excited about these potential opportunities. Thoughts?

Not at all! Talent is talent, my friend. We still have creatives in their 60s here.

OP!!!!! What awesome news. Whenever I start a new gig, I feel like (and am) the oldest creative in the bunch which makes me feel shy. Then when we actually start the work, and I hear what the kids managing me honestly don't know what they don't know, I feel proud of myself and remember I have so much value and tons to offer. I think it's all about finding the right ECD who will see your value and let you do your thing. What if we all stopped even mentioning that we are old? You don't hear the kids saying, "I'm just a junior...mid-level...senior, etc." Nev-er! Because there is this idea that their youth somehow puts them ahead of us, they don't think of it as a handicap. (Am I allowed to say handicap? Anyway, sorry if I'm not).

Hi everyone,

I will have my first chat with a Google Cloud recruiter for a TAM role in a couple of days. Any advice/tips you can give me? Also, a referral at this point would help in the process, or is not necessary once I already have this first interview scheduled?

Thanks!!
