I’m a millennial that needs a refresh on how to do my makeup— I have lots of great eyeshadow palettes and makeup but I never use any of them. Will a store like Sephora or Ulta help me if I bring my makeup in and ask for help? Should I expect to schedule some sort of appointment and pay for this (which wouldn’t be an issue if they did)…or potentially a local MUA for a lesson? Any advice on what options I have would be appreciated!

A store MUA will only help you with the makeup they currently sell as an incentive to buy their products. You’d have to find and hire an independent MUA to work with your current collection of products. Just watch YouTube MUAs for inspiration. I don’t think we need the same brand of products they use, it’s more about product placement/application. Ali Andreea has a lot of great professional and everyday looks, as well as more fun looks for date nights/events.

Agree with the consensus that makeup counters will only help you with the makeup they are selling and won’t use the makeup you already have, but that could still be really helpful to learn suggested techniques and placement you could use with what you already have, and you may ultimately end up wanting to update some of your products to help update your look too, so no harm trying with new products.

Chanel makeup artists are my favorite. The people at Sephora are hit and miss but can be really helpful.

I would go to the MAC counter. Go to a place that sells their own products vs. a place that sells a bunch of brands so you don’t get overwhelmed or bodied down with so many products

Local mua might be a great idea in this case. Or maybe sign up for a local class that will teach you techniques and not just certain makeup looks.

High school special class (self-contained) teachers: What do you use for planning? I’ve always been an inclusive teacher, so I followed the plan book of my co-teacher. The 11th grade classes I can very much do whatever I (or the student) want/need…there isn’t a set curriculum

Hey fellow Disney Lovers,

I generally have a few lessons in which I can use Pixar shorts to teach students how to identify and discuss literary signposts, how to identify and explain the development of theme, character traits, and other narrative elements. What are some of your favorite shorts? I am trying to incorporate activities where my students get to choose their own clips for independent practice with these skills and need a variety to draw from.

At my uncles wedding in Madrid I remember lying down on the grass in the courtyard after their first dance and crying, my Dad came and saw me, laid down in his suit beside me and asked what was wrong.

“I know my boyfriend wouldn’t dance with me like that at our wedding”

And we just lay there as I cried, and then got up. Had a drink.

Said boyfriend left years ago, and now I have a wonderful man who just asked me what type of dance lessons I want for our wedding next year.

Don’t give up.

What is your ABSOLUTE FAVORITE lesson?

To all the post-9/11 veterans, it’s a somber day that unites us all in the reason we fought. It’s easy to forget - especially with the younger generation having 9/11 be a history lesson rather than something they lived through. The waters became muddy with two wars and politicians, but you all stepped up and did your duty. Thank you all for your service, it’s an honor whether we crossed paths or not.

Did anyone else adopt the new Florida Wonders curriculum? We just adopted it this school year, and I teach 4th grade. My team and I have not found a good flow, schedule, or whatever you want to call it. We feel like it teaches too many skills in one lesson, and we are not able to truly teach anything “deep” enough for students to master. Does anyone have any insight? What do you do? Do you like the curriculum? Why or why not? Would you be willing to share what you do weekly/daily? Thanks!
