I'm a new-ish copywriter, and it's hard to stay motivated. Everything I read online sounds like boring AI slop. Cheap ChatGPT users are being hired over real writers. If the market only wants fast, easy AI content, how can we compete with that?

If everything you read online sounds like AI slop then you need to find better things to read. If you're starting a career as a copywriter you should be reading widely and deeply. If you're working for an ad agency, talk to the more senior writers and find out what they're reading. Or do some research, read some of the old Paris Review interviews with writers and search out what they were reading. If you read deeply you'll find your voice and it'll stand out against the AI slop we're starting to drown in.

I kind of have the opposite feelings. All of the garbage out there makes me just want to work harder to be a better writer. I don't care what other people do, I care what has my name on it and how that reflects on me.

It is tough right now, but genuine storytelling still stands out. Al can generate words, not nuance or emotion. Keep refining that part — it is what will keep you relevant.

Just wait until the AI starts complaining about its workload and forming a union. Then maybe we’ll be appreciated again.

Hey, I am appearing for a pre-sales engineer interview. It will be a sort of role-play demo session, where the team will want to understand how I present, how I manage a room, how I keep my audience engaged and also your technical abilities when asked regarding the solution. I have a liberty to choose any data science related product. I am essentially confused as to what product to choose, and how to structure the presentation. I would highly appreciate tips and suggestions. Thanks

How often do y’all adjust your rates? I’m fairly new to freelancing but I’m getting a ton of interest. The company I’m with met my rate with no negotiation, which signals I might be selling myself short. Is it uncool to ask for more if they want to extend my contract? Or is it better to just end with them and ask for more from the next company?

The argument that climate change is not man-made has been disproven by science over and over again, yet many people believe that the global crisis is either not real, not of our making, or both, in part because the news media deliberately chooses not to talk about it because it doesn't sell enough.

One of my direct reports has asked about going part time. They currently manage special reports in a bi-weekly publication, working closely with sales, freelance writers, and an internal designer. Job duties are primarily project management and editing/proofreading. As the first read on articles, they need to have an understanding of the material (business/regulation).
