Maybe you can transition to internal comms. And then after a few years there, into a HR or operations kind of role?
I've worked in Comms - in various capacities - for over 20 years. I've done it all - and am currently in the agency world. I'm also incredibly burned out. This is a tough field. We're expected to take on a lot for very little appreciation. Clients treat us poorly, and we have to keep going. For all of those reasons, I'm seeking to leave the profession. At 7 years in you likely have MANY transferable skills. I'm guessing you are good at strategy, planning, and working with others. Have you considered pursuing a project manager certification? Consider what you enjoy and think about how you can use your existing skills to get you a role doing that. Work your network - that's what I'm doing. When making a transition in profession, especially in this AI-obsessed world, your current resume won't work nearly as well as a well-placed comment or recommendation from someone you're connected to.
