Newbie to investing and never invested in a company that went through a reverse stock split.
In theory, I understand the market value should increase but I’m not seeing this reflected in the price and naturally my book value/ share is very disappointing.
A) When should I anticipate the stock appreciation to occur?
B) What’s the next move for companies that do this? Issue more shares?
TIA!

Are you in agency or in house? A 15-20 year timeline to 100+ isn’t accurate.
Yeah, if you do it right you should hit 100k right around the time you turn 30. 27/28 if you’re a rockstar.
I don’t think that’s accurate, although depends where you live. Most VPs in big cities would be making 100+ and are early thirties. Most senior account supervisors will be in the 90-100 range and are late 20’s.
FWIW, I went 35 - 46 - 72 - 90 - 110 - 125 from AAE - VP. I did make a move into a more niche area (healthcare/pharma) and moved to NYC when I jumped from 46-72. But it’s definitely possible. If money motivates you, look into financial PR or healthcare/pharma PR. They aren’t as “sexy” as consumer brand but tend to pay better in my experience
This is mirrors my growth and makes me happy at SAE!
I started making 100k at 26. It's not impossible! But you do need to jump agencies a few times to get that increase. Staying somewhere for a long time won't get you strong raises like agency hopping will.
Coach
Case in point - I’m at 75k at 26 and haven’t moved agencies since 22.
The early years are rough, yes, but 15-20 isn’t accurate. You should be at 100K anywhere between 7-9 years into your career... unless you’re not being promoted, which is really on you.
You’re in control of your career.
I wrote a long response and accidentally deleted it. Net net: make sure you’re working somewhere that can support your salary expectations. Small agencies or dwindling accounts won’t help.
I switched from agency to brand side and made $100K+ before 30 in a HCOL city. Salary wasn’t the primary motivating factor but when I compared a tech company versus an agency circling the bowl in a holding company I knew it was time to leave.
It definitely shouldn’t take 15-20 years. 7-8 is probably average, maybe less if you’re a superstar or in a specialty area as some of the others mentioned. The first few years are tough, but you see bigger bumps with each promo once you hit the AS level and above.
Especially today - I don’t think old timelines or rules apply. But people remember great people - and want to help those who help themselves. Building strong relationships and being an addition (even if feeling underpaid / undervalued) will return you good returns for a long time. You want to be the bright smart hardworking teammate that comes to mind when a colleague or former boss starts out a new venture - and needs someone solid. Join a PR group or start one - it’s amazing how much better it feels to learn from others’ experiences in exactly what we do.
Jump to different agencies every 3 years or so to see bigger bumps.
I would say jump every two years, especially if you don’t get a promotion. Make sure to understand holding company rules too. Certain policies make it so that you can’t get more than 15% of your current salary if you move within the network (looking at you IPG).
All my VPs make way above 100, closer to 200. 1-2 even higher. Healthcare PR, corporate comms all pay much higher salary.
You’ve got this! I’m 8 months from 30 and I’m about to get a raise that’s going to put me to at least 110k. I started in PR late and have only been in it for 4.5 years. Makes some jumps and really advocate for yourself. You’ll get there.
Ok this is reassuring! I’m agency side in LA
Co-signing what everyone else said. I started making over $100k at the director level.
FWIW - I started my career in 1992 making $20k. I think I hit $100k in either 8 or 9 years.
I started my career making $22k in 2005! Ugh.
Build relationships and freelance.
I hit 100k by 30. It’s doable if you jump agencies.
I see a lot of people sharing that this is inaccurate. Just wanted to share my situation, started at 22 making $38K and now I’m 25 years in making $72K... I plan to be at $100K by 27/28 you have to ask for what you’re worth and if your company isn’t giving you that go to another agency.
That’s not true. I just pivoted to PR after 6 years in advertising and have maintained well above 100
But PR does pay less than ad
