This is why I specifically *don’t* support small businesses.
I’m debating the following responses:
a) it’s easier if you deliver
b) what kind of business charges a delivery fee and then has the audacity to ask you to come pick up the item
c) I hope you get explosive diarrhea
Yeah, no problem at all if they *ask* if you would be willing to pick it up! But acting like they're doing you a favor for doing the thing you already paid them to do... 🤡 If you don't want to offer delivery, tell me that before I pay you for it!
Even if you're literally in my city, unless you live close to a transit stop, the only practical way for me to get to you is by rideshare (I don't have a car). Hell of a lot cheaper to put it in a box and pay the local zone postage to have the USPS carrier pick it up from you and hand it to me tomorrow. Not to mention less time wasted!
Yeah small businesses also charge for returns too.
I can relate. I had a couple of poor experiences, too. One of them I managed to get money back through a credit dispute.
I no longer order online from small, local businesses.

I would definitely be pissed in the moment, but I like SSE1’s response about clarifying the delivery charge.
I’d be curious to know if it was the owner responding or a high school kid that just doesn’t understand yet (since I’m assuming this exchange happened via email)
It was an email with the owners name but yea who knows who’s actually responding. Sounded like the owner though. She clarified that she can deliver IF NEED BE, but she’s away for the summer so naturally I’m supposed to understand why it’s hard for her to deliver.
That business owner is lacking professionalism - small business or not

No it was a specialty item. Personalized travel bag. Nice designs but never again.
Not everyone is cut out to be a business owner and they expect their customers to do things for them.
