I’m already having “omg I’m gonna get laid off and have to move in with my parents” anxiety. I don’t have much in savings and my parents aren’t wealthy enough to float me. i need this job. So scared.

I just joined my firm. 50% billable on a project that isn’t a good fit. Working hard to find something else tho!

If you can absorb a pay cut and still cover your expenses you should be fine. Unemployment and pay cuts are usually temporary, for younger people anyway.

Well the bright side is u have parents to move in with.. should it come to that

Do whatever it takes to be on a billable project, and do your best.

Hey OP, I completed my graduation during recession in 2009. I had no interest in programming and wanted to work with a semiconductor company in India which was my passion back then. They didn’t the honor the agreement and I had to hunt for a job tirelessly. Forced myself to learn the basics of java, oracle, and unix and finally got a job.

While I can’t help but think of an impending recession and what it will do to my career, I have also gotten confident about what I do. I guess I will just let the days pass and continue doing what I do and scale up in newer technologies. Worse comes to worse, I will get a job. Mayn’t be a well paying one as this one or mayn’t be in this country but I won’t be remotely in a bad place I was during that summer of 2009.

Don't be worried, can jump to another less prestigious job easily, and even if worst worst case scenario you were at a shelter or homeless, you know enough hard, soft, and business skills to hustle yourself back onto your feet or work your way up to manager level at any random store – all while working to get back into a prestigious job..

When to sell at a loss?

I’m 26 and have a fair chunk of my NW tied to Cloudflare - a tech stock that I believe has the opportunity to 3x and become a $100b+ company over the long term. Similarly, I have a lot in cloud computing etf - WCLD.

Given short term rotation out of growth stocks, I’m confused on what to do. I think we still have some time before growth stocks bottom out, but do I sell?

I would consider myself a “long only” investor, but am unsure what to do given my lack of diversif

After 6 years of temporary contracts and unstable situations, I find my dream job in my dream company. All of a sudden the world goes upside down and I get laid off. I start sending hundreds of applications, with only 2 recruiters getting back to me to say I don’t have experience for the job (this is how it works in Italy). Add a terrible health situation in my family and it seems there’s no light at the end of the tunnel. Ugh. 😞

How do you invest and save for your children? I’m thinking about setting them up with custodial brokerage accounts but don’t want them to have a heyday at 18. Did you create irrevocable trusts or?? They are too young for earned income and I don’t own a business so no IRA investing opportunities here.

I have been searching for a travel card for months. I am a young guy who is looking to take advantage of credit and earn points at the same time. Cap One just released an interesting new premium travel card with a lot of seemingly good perks (Venture X). I also looked at the CSP and the Southwest Priority card. My girlfriends family has Southwest and swear by it, with companion pass being the differentiator. I am in the DMV area and have mostly flown Jet Blue or Southwest. Any thoughts on this?
