It really depends on the sector of medicine you are in, size of clinic or team your managing as well as your scope of practice. Some healthcare manager jobs are basically glorified babysitters while others require higher level skillsets and abilities.
Firstly, I’d like to point out that you might oversee the clinical staff and do their initial onboarding and orientation but unless you’ve been formally credentialed with the same licenses that you say you’re “training,” you are merely onboarding and orienting them, which is vastly different than providing clinical education to clinical roles. That being said, yes, there will be clinical roles that will make more than the administrative roles, regardless of whether you oversee them or not.
If your goal is to increase your salary opportunity and arnt currently understanding why your current role isn’t paying more than it is I would recommend deep diving into what other roles are out there and what higher paying roles expect in terms of skills and abilities so that you can identify if your in a role your over qualified for or if there’s skills you need to cultivate in order to be ready to jump to higher salary range roles.

To be transparent. Nurses and other licensed providers will always be the highest paid at any facility or clinic.
I am a Director and train all direct care staff and some experienced RNs make more than me (behavioral health RTC & Outpatient care). All of our RNs make more than the majority of our leadership team.
Good Nurses are very hard to come by, they will be paid nicely to be competitive.
To get better pay, you’d have to look to work for a larger facility/company. More bed capacity = more revenue = higher salaries across the board
Wow, I’d be frustrated too. That gap makes no sense, especially when you’re leading, training, and managing operations. I’d definitely explore new roles, especially in healthcare consulting, operations director positions, or even remote health tech. You’ve got the skills for $90–100K easy.
