I’m curious how others are approaching this. Are lawyers openly discussing AI use with recruiters or during interviews? Or is it still something people use quietly in the background? And is AI proficiency becoming a desirable skill for lawyers, or is it not really a factor yet?

I would be open about this and I also work on SaaS and other AI related agreements and I know that’s an important skillset too. But at least as in house counsel, ability to leverage AI is desired.

Good to know thanks!

Most firms use it now and want you to. It makes you more efficient.

Thanks!

For those using AI, what are the tasks AI is useful for? In litigation, I use it once in awhile if there’s something that doesn’t seem jurisdiction specific. And it’s alright for that.

AI can help with research, drafting, reviewing, summarizing etc.

Additional Posts in Ask A Recruiter - Law

How do find a recruiter in the legal field? Have been looking for a job for a year now and trying to transition into another practice area. Applied to more than 20 jobs and still no offers. I feel like I might need some help.
Also, I have no idea how these arrangements work. Do you pay the recruiter to look for the jobs or do you pay them when you get the job? Or does the employer pay them?

Hi, been stuck in the contract analysis/review cycle. I have asked a few recruiters how to make a lateral move into in-house. They told me to focus on contract management, which I have been doing for the past year. Now that I have, are there any sites besides “jobscan” that I can use to make sure my resume fits the job descriptions? Does anybody know any recruiters that could help me, as well?

I currently work at a medium sized firm and have about two years experience in personal injury litigation. I have an offer for $130k for a senior attorney position in a boutique L&E firm. Also have a recruiter who thinks she can get me into another for $150-170k. Both are more than I’ve ever made (Denver, 17 yrs of experience but completely different practice areas). Any tips for countering the $130k offer for more using the other potential offer while not risking a complete withdrawal of the current offer?
