I'm curious if people 45 and above buy travel insurance to cover emergency medical and evacuation expenses during internationa travel?

If yes, what insurance companies have you used, and what has your experience been?

TIA

Squaremouth is a good website to use to compare travel insurance companies + policies. Generally, you can get travel insurance that is medical insurance + some other stuff, or you can get travel insurance that is primarily travel + has some medical coverage.

We don’t normally buy travel insurance, but have a big upcoming trip with multiple international connections each direction, so we bought a policy that will help us cover costs if we get delayed or our bags are lost. It also has some medical and evacuation coverage, but that’s not its primary purpose

I buy a yearly policy from Allianz. It has very limited trip cancellation coverage but has good med evacuation coverage and rental car coverage. The trip interruption and baggage delay are decent.

I've used World Nomads a couple of times when required for tour groups (G Adventures, iirc) - didn't need to make any claims, so I don't actually know how well they would work, but it was the provider specified by those tour groups. I will also buy travel insurance for very expensive trips or trips where I expect to do something more active or dangerous, like scuba diving, challenging hikes, parasailing.

Can anyone explain why insurance defence work in the US is such a terrible place to be? I work in insurance defence / coverage (financial lines) based in London and it doesn’t seem like it has as negative of a reputation as it does in the US, why is that? 👀

I love what I do and I have an offer to stay in International Development and be a manager with 86k, focusing on my technical area + lots of travel. But I also have offers from Deloitte and EY to be a GPS consultant at ~100k. Is it worth it to move to D or EY? Have personal financial goals that i need to reach for my family and thats why i started considering EY and D.

I don’t want things to go “back to normal,” and lately I’ve been reading what feels like a lot of disingenuous arguments for reopening “for people’s mental health.” As someone who was suffering from the way things were before and is now thriving from the slowdown (both in work and personal life), I wish we could all stop pretending like we were living in some mental health utopia before the shut down.

Hi, I'm an employee at a hotel chain who works remotely. I've been working remotely for over a year now and I love it! The company I work for is very supportive of remote workers, which is great.

But there's one thing that's been bothering me: it's hard to get feedback on my work when I'm not in the office. It would be great if there was some kind of system that let me know how my performance was being evaluated while I'm working on projects from home.

I’m in a little of a pickle but a good one. Offer A. Established “start up” doing well financially and projected to hit profitability. 130k base. Stocks offered, unlimited PTO, and 70% Medical covered. Offer B. Is at a business much larger…90k salary with 10% bonus and generous stock offering. Titles are different which is why the pay is much different. I know some may think it is a no brainer but offer A allows me to grow the department ground up whereas offer B id be apart of to just different

Hi Fam!
Any suggestions on what medical insurance we can buy for parents traveling to the US? I’m looking for reasonably priced ones that offer good coverage! My mum would need a better plan than my dad, since she recently underwent surgery! Also, is insurance better from US or Indian companies? Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

I’m not bad with money but definitely lots of room to improve overall, due to several personal factors I don’t want to list in full here (numerous unanticipated medical bills, bad boyfriends, etc.) Hence why I only have $3k in savings right now. My first mini goal is to have $5k saved by the end of December. I need motivation and words of encouragement. If I pay off my medical bills, I won’t make my goal. I have to start putting saving money first. Getting depressed about my situation.

Alright auto fishes, I’m in the market for a entry level luxury car. Open to used or a lease. I don’t plan to use it as a daily driver, live in an HCOL. Only restriction is that I’d like to keep my monthly costs at no more than $600-$700/month (including insurance, financing / fees, etc; have a parking spot already). Doesn’t have to be a European badge. Thoughts?

Team Financial Planning Specialist or no?
My team is growing more and more to specializations with investment products. (Insurance, alts, ESG) I’ve been wondering if the Financial Planning role could also be a specialist in our client experience. We have two competing ideas; A financial planning specialist would be able to develop intimate familiarity with the planning software, processes, and human nuances. But would a newclient feel 'bait&switched’ to be handed off for this important process?
