I’m currently five months pregnant and just started looking for a new lateral associate position because my current firm’s parental leave policy is practically non-existent. I know it’s technically illegal to discriminate based on pregnancy, but I’m realistic about how a hiring committee will view someone who needs to go on leave four months after starting. Should I disclose my pregnancy during the interview process to see how they react, or should I wait until I have the offer letter?

Just make sure wherever you go actually entitles you to leave within 4 months of starting. My last company had no service requirement but most companies require you to be there for at least a year before you’re entitled to parental leave which is also in line with FMLA.

Agree with this. Most companies have a service requirement before you’re entitled to parental leave

Every night for like the past month I’ve been getting incredibly emotional about adulthood. I miss the lack of responsibility, the simplicity of life, friends were always around, and less pressure to be successful.

Hi, been stuck in the contract analysis/review cycle. I have asked a few recruiters how to make a lateral move into in-house. They told me to focus on contract management, which I have been doing for the past year. Now that I have, are there any sites besides “jobscan” that I can use to make sure my resume fits the job descriptions? Does anybody know any recruiters that could help me, as well?

I interviewed at a law firm and had my final round last Friday. The Tuesday afterward, I got a call from the recruiter saying the firm won’t have a decision for another week. I believe they’re interviewing other candidates. Does that make me second or third choice? And does the fact that I’m working with a recruiter hurt my chances of being selected due to the commission? Should I hold out for the offer or is 1+ week a sign that I won’t be selected?

Curious if anyone else is or has been in the same boat. I started as an assistant at an entertainment law firm prior to passing the bar. Upon passing, the partner told me they would hire an assistant for me since I now became an associate. That was 1.5 years ago and I am still in the limbo of juggling my own workload + doing assistant roles for my supervisors. I have also had no increase in pay, which is a huge deal for me. Is this normal in the entertainment world? Any suggestions?
