I'm currently in a tax specialty role where I'm more of a tax analyst than a tax accountant. Never done a return. I'm thinking about switching to industry and getting into more of a finance role...

...or some kind of analyst position. What is the best time in my career to leave for industry... to be able to transition but also maximize my compensation? I don't want to be only thought of a tax person.

What have you thought about the move?

I like it so far. I had dealt with assets in tax and moved to an asset role in industry. So slightly different, but still what I like to do. Also nice to leave the office by 5/5:30 everyday and receive a legitimate bonus

I'm looking at more of finance analyst or business analyst position. Do you think that will be an issue coming from tax?

If an employee mentions something disparaging or accusatory about their manager during an exit interview, how would you handle? What happens if what the employee said is slanderous and a “he said/she said” situation? I.e. employee claimed the manager made a disparaging remark about an item of clothing being worn by someone in accordance with their beliefs. If you opt to share the feedback with the manager, would the manager have a legal case against the company or former employee?
