I often wonder why I did accounting because the services I provide to my clients mean nothing to them. At the wake of my friend's dad tonight, he asked for my help during dealing with his family

When I was graduating from undergrad, my university held a 1 hour “you have student debt, and this is how a loan works. (You have to pay it).” The Religion major next to me said “I have no idea what they’re saying. What is an interest rate? On the way out, an education major said “yeah, but this doesn’t apply to me. I don’t have to pay because I’m teaching at a public highschool"

Seriously?...

Estate as he is worried about being taken advantage of because of his limited understanding of anything financial. I said absolutely and feel so happy I'm able to be there for him. That is all.

It's simultaneously amazing that you can help, but sad that so many people feel like your friends dad and feel like they can't grasp anything financial. It boggles my mind that things need to be so complicated and often wonder why we don't teach people about these things during HS!! No one should get into the world that unprepared. Good on you for being there for him!!! 😇

@BDO 1 I feel like they should have to give that course before you start taking out the loans

AS1, I agree.
EY1, hopefully they do now. I took out gov’t loans and didn’t receive this when I started college in the late 2000s.

I am not a very shallow person — he was already on the heavier side when we met. But when I look at photos from just a year ago, it’s clear he’s put on a lot of weight. I am worried about his health. I don’t want to overstep or make him feel insecure. Just wondering if anyone else has ever been here.

So… 3.5 year relationship came crashing in Jan due to covid depression, work burn out, lockdown etc. We have stayed in contact and recently he has come around to apologizing and considering getting back together. However he also revealed he started seeing someone casually 4 weeks ago and technically is cheating on her by meeting me for coffee and to discuss this. I’m upset that he’s dating others but shouldn’t be right? I mean, I did the same. Still hurts though. And I told him to sort that out

A couple falls in love and moves in together. One person is wealthy and the other is not. The wealthy partner pays for most of the basic home necessities. The wealthy partner also pays for many vacations including the children of both partners. The wealthy partner also pays for expensive car repairs and college tuition for the children of the less wealthy partner. Then, the couple breaks up. Does the wealthy partner have rights to reimbursement? They never married.

I know this isn’t a marriage therapy bowl, but my husband has a really terrible tendency of saying things like “you’re being really mean” and completely shutting down during a disagreement when i objectively am not being mean, just truthful or vocal about how i feel about something. It’s a really convenient argument for him because it enables him to either be the victim and me the villian, or forces me to concede my stance and not reach a true resolution. Any tips on dealing with the irrational?

Also, I negotiated current salary when the offer came 5 months ago now, not taking into account high increases in inflation. Do salaries get adjusted for inflation? And if so, when?
