I'm editing from my home office after having a baby, and honestly missing the buzz of the newsroom - especially those impromptu discussions where we'd workshop tricky headlines or debate style choices. If you work remotely, have you found any online alternatives that capture that same collaborative spirit?

In my experience, it depends on your team. I’ve been fully remote for six years. But the team I’m on now is very active on slack, so we’re constantly still doing things like workshopping headlines. And we have weekly meetings so we see each other’s faces, which I do think helps with our rapport as a team.

I work from home as well, and I have three kids. I have had many jobs where the team creates a way to collaborate virtually, which is nice. I’ve had teams keep a permanent video room open so people can drop by for quick chats. So, totally possible, while not the same. I love my flexibility more than anything!

I set up a running Google Doc with my editing team where we drop headlines and style questions in real time. People jump in with comments whenever they are free, and sometimes it turns into a live back-and-forth. It is not as spontaneous as an in-person conversation, but it still captures that sense of collaboration.

I’m lucky enough that when I’m wfh I have specific breakout meetings to keep the discussion going so nobody gets stuck on their own

Hello all,

I had a quick question

Had a call with audit leaders last week and were told that they haven't finalized the office building and they will get possession of the new building in Pune only by Jan 2023.

Currently they just have the ITS with the seating capacity of 30 people.

Now for audit they want us to go to office 2 days every week. How are we supposed to do that when they don't even have an office? But they are still adamant to get us back to office location by June 1.

Is this going to jeopardize my resident status? Can I go without a lease?

How does one tell their boss (owner of the company) that you are burnt out? The sheer volume of work is exhausting and I haven’t taken a true vacation as we are a small company so if something urgent comes to my email I feel like I must respond. The hostility on my team is rough. We have a yeller. I walked by her room the other day. She was screaming across the room at a student, "you have to be kind to get kindness." Seriously, those were her words in a loud, berating, angry tone. Our admin has asked that we not report these. We are to talk to the teacher. She has yelled at me and other adults. Admin has to know she treats the kids this way too. One teacher has to work with her door closed to not hear the yelling all day.

It’s looking like my job is gonna start asking us to return to the office. We have an open office plan and before we wfh FT I would save all my work for my telework days bc I can’t get shit done in the office. I’m having major anxiety about them making this decision. I know I’m not alone that people don’t want to return to the office. My ADHD and the open office just makes working from the office a nightmare and I’m feeling really nervous and kind of resentful.
