Sorry, this speaks more to your time management than anything. It takes 5 mins to pray. You’re an adult. Step away for 5 mins to pray.
I am sorry if I am confused. You only need 5 mins each for Zuhr and Asr. I guess Maghrib in winter months.
That adds up to 15 minutes total. People take longer than that to grab a coffee or have a smoke.
Do people really notice if you step away for 5 mins? What happens when people need to use the washroom.
It should not matter if you work remote or in a team room at client site.
Did anyone have any issues with you stepping away for 15 mins over the course of the day? What exactly did they say?
I don't agree. I find that I have eyes on me when I'm gone and it's easier said than done to get it all over with in 5 minutes, D1.
Does your team not take coffee breaks? Kind of weird that they think you’re slacking. Also based on your title, you’re probably leading teams so you should have some control over your calendar since I don’t think you’re probably always in a client call
I agree. We have people who take coffee breaks, smoke breaks, long bathroom breaks. It isn't abnormal at all and nobody thinks they are slacking.
Block the prayer times on your calendar and make the events public, and make sure they say "religious commitment". Also, try to keep your ablution so every prayer doesnt take more than 5 minutes
I feel this deeply. I’ve had to pray in stairwells or skip altogether some days, and the guilt really hits. I try to block time on my calendar, but yeah, consulting hours make it tough. I’m learning not to apologize for my faith, it’s not slacking, it’s a priority. Still figuring out the balance.
I'm big on advanced scheduling. My whole team works around my schedule and I'm so grateful for that. For urgent clashes, I’ll pray a shortened version or combine prayers when it's allowed under Islamic rulings. I don't struggle with misconceptions, because I've reframed prayer as a “mental reset” that boosts my productivity and most of my colleagues respect it and also see the focus I bring post-Salah.
I feel this. I’ve had to do prayers close together (dhuhr and asr, maghrib and ishs) and I try to be home to do my prayers, otherwise hard to find a prayer room
