Never hold your self worth on this job scarcity issue. The market is well saturated these days, So anyone cheaper could be a big thing that play into rejections. I didn't look at your portfolio or profile, so i can't judge there. But to be honest, mastering interview is probably the best advice. I always look out from the question or the vibe they are giving in, and really ask what are they looking for in this role, that way you can easily adjust whether you want to adapt to their needs/look elsewhere. Before the interview, Make sure you state some sort of knowledge in their respective industry, that way they know it's not a hassle to introduce you to their businesses. All well and good luck! i believe you'll get hired soon enough
It’s because the market is flooded! And 15?! Should be applying and applying. And Do research on companies. When I apply for jobs on indeed, it’ll say there’s already lo over 1,000 other applicants. Most jobs in this field are through referrals. Network. Advertise yourself/skills.
Fifteen roles isn’t very many. Think of it this way. Many job postings are getting hundreds or even thousands of applicants. Typically, a brain dead ATS or HR recruiters who know nothing about our field have to get those applicants down to 10 to phone screen. They are screening for English proficiency, visa issues, and how well you match the posted requirements. They send the 7 or so who pass to the hiring manager who picks 3-5 for team interviews. One is offered the job. So, you should expect to apply to 10-100 jobs for every phone screen you get and get a job offer for every 3-5 team interviews you get. I applied to 100 jobs both times I was laid off after age 50 and 5 phone screens, 5 interviews and got one job offer. And that was BEFORE this hiring slump.
I agree with all the other notes here, but this one specifically was what I was looking for before I responded. This is just the nature of job hunting, not to downplay your efforts but 15 roles is not a large number in this job market.
Keep at it, keep sending apps, and keep your hopes up. It’s a rough market so hang in there.
Fifteen is not enough. You will need to put in hundreds, maybe over a thousand.
I used to think that as well...but, now i am seeing that the jobs are mostly fake. NOBODY is getting the job. Companies just keep reposting same position, over and over. With all the AI agents i have been using and all the resume builders and word matching software...i know that i am hitting the mark. Plus recruiters have a ton of software to FIND YOU...
So, i have decided to stop wasting my time! Now i am interviewing companies! I have also started my own business and picking up small work rather than waiting for market to turn around.
Are you using AI to help write your cover letter and to craft your resume to match each role specifically?
It’s a tough market out there right now, try not to take it personally. Lots of competition.
We hired a junior designer last year and i really wanted to see range in portfolio, I enjoy seeing your style and personality but if everything is that then I am less interested. I also want to see a large range or project types.
Can you find a small business that needs help and see if you can do some work for them to beef up your portfolio? Or make up projects!
Contact several staffing firms. They will amplify your search, or at least get you freelance work for a while.
I once felt the way you are feeling. Just kept hearing “No’s”, but I also felt do not give up in my spirit and God showed me a different way to go…which was to create my own business. It started slowing and God taught me everything I needed to know to run my business along the way. Now 34 years later and I absolutely love my business and what I strived so hard to make it be with God helping totally along the way.
Hope this helps and May God Bless you
It likely is nothing you are doing wrong. This is a very common experience that we are all going through in the industry. With that being said, it's not unusual right now to put out 100+ applications before getting an interview. You'll want to scale up to give yourself the best chance.
I’ve applied for 25 jobs in the last 60 days. I’ve had 2 interviews and 1 more coming up this week. Keep plugging away. 🤞
Hello. I know how's this feeling is. I've been working as a graphic designer for more than 15 year and I've moved from Brazil to Dublin 8 months ago to study english basically. To be honest it isn't easy, i've applied for more than 250 roles only on Linkedin. Don't give up, keep applying and improve your portfolio
.
15 roles in 2025 isn’t very many, especially when most openings receive well over 1,000 applicants. Keep applying. Attend networking events, ask college professors or mentors for referrals, and look into bootcamps or workshops where you can meet others in the field. Treat your portfolio like a UX project; include your process, not just polished screens. Get as much helpful feedback as possible and keep iterating without introducing friction points. Tell your story; in a world where everyone is striving for perfection, authenticity and genuine connection with the hiring team matter most.
I have sent out over 200 job applications in the past two years and have come to realize that I struggle with interviews. I've encountered many so-called professionals who excel at selling themselves but can't actually deliver results. I decided that I won't let this bother me. Even though I may not shine in interviews, I will excel in my work. I turned to freelancing, and I truly enjoy it. While I still send out applications from time to time, I find myself losing interest when faced with foolish questions during interviews. Keep your head up, focus on excelling at what you do, and you will ultimately be successful.

I've been feeling the same way lately. I get more rejection emails than call backs. And of course, most of the rejection emails are things like "We went with someone with skills that closely match the position" or "you applied late after we already hired someone". I've been seriously considering a career pivot at this point.
15? You need to apply to 500 jobs, literally everything that's out there, to hear back from 2. Every week, apply to 25 jobs, even those you think are outside your reach. Some places are more flexible in their requirements.
