Just file it as soon as you can i think. I teach at a college on the side and i basically just talked to my boss and got clearance (with signed paperwork) for it. As long as it doesnt interfere with your main job hours it should be fine
I think its highly unlikely it will be retrospective. Worst you can do is not declare it and they find out in the future, when you could’ve saved yourself from the trouble now.
It doesn't sound like this is any kind of conflict of interest (which is why you're expected to declare). If you declare now I'm sure you'll be fine.
Yup exactly what im doing
Imagine firing someone for teaching music lessons to help make ends meet while their wife undergoes cancer treatment…I’m sorry and sad you even have to think about this
Thank you. Some say im overreacting but they absolutely do fire people over this. Companies can be so heartless. Once they find out theyd instant fire me like they did the other guy and just say “company policy” no matter what I try to say.
I banked with my now employer even before I was an employee there so my payroll account is my personal account. (Fyi if you were at a bank u are required to have an account with them to get paid, in my case I already did). If i lose this full time job my family is finished because we are living pay cheque to pay cheque right now. I cant afford to mess this up.
What should I do? Just hope I keep getting away with it? Im not even breaking any rules i just didnt follow proper procedure 😓 if i declare it now and ask for forgiveness will i still be fired?
Last: i saw a guy post on another bowl they were instantly fired for this exact same thing (having an unrelated side hustle to their job)
Perfectly normal to be anxious regarding this. I know my firm in the past has looked for acceptable termination for staff prior to layoffs (to avoid paying severance as scummy as that is). The answer above about taking a break then declaring is what I would do.
Thank you! I am taking a break havent done it in 1 month since its not the season for it. I expect business to pick up in january with all the new year resolutions to learn an instrument !
If it's possible, I'd open up a separate bank account in a different bank, maybe under your wife's name and get paid into that one, but IDK if they would know or get notified. Or just ask to get paid cash if possible.
