I had interviewed for an internship position at EY for technology consultant program for summer 2022 and got a call where they extended an offer. I wanted to know if I can defer the internship offer to fall 2022 or a later start date after summer.
I apologize as I cannot reply to a comment or DM on this platform to anyone, but thanks for your answers in advance.

There are 3 main entry points into strategy:
1) out of undergrad
2) out of grad (mba/ PhD)
3) lateral hire
For 1 and 2, going to a target school is by the far the best way. For 1, it’s typically only Canadian schools that compete. For 2, you have international target schools also applying, but in larger numbers than 1 (INSEAD, LBS, and other American schools).
For 3, only if you were at a comparable firm, then will that option work.
So, yes, an MBA helps more or less only if it is from a target. I would say, Ivey, Queens or Rotman, though the US T15 schools give you the best shot. Recruitment isn’t as strong out of Canadian MBA programs from what I see.

If OP is looking to break into Toronto consulting, going to Canadian MBAs is way faster and cheaper. And having actual quantifiable Canadian experience will give you a heads start in recruiting with recruiters in my experience.
For MBA, if you’re looking for jobs in Toronto go with Ivey or Rotman. US schools are good but hard to pay off unless you’re staying in the US for work after.
All T2/ MBB pay upwards of 200k + 35k signing for MBA hires

You can definitely get into consulting without an MBA, especially for corporate strategy. Our firm has separate channels for experienced hire recruitment.
This is helpful, thank you! If you don't mind, could you provide some examples of the qualifications/work experiences that would be sought after for experienced hires?
What about the MBA at Schulich? Isn’t it as good as Rotman?
