My resume got shortlisted for Operations Associate/Engineer-Amazon Managed Services role. I am an experienced AWS engineer with 5YOE.I feel like this role will be degrading in nature for me. Is it worth joining for this position. I would love to join Amazon based on my experience and skill set. But Not to some position which doesn't require AWS experience.

i manage redistributed teams across the world since 2015, most of colleagues never saw in my life.
the only secret: have real interest in people (persons).
start from virtual relaxed coffee 121, ask about their story, how they started their career, what r their interests, how their grandmother is feeling, etc
tell your story too.
if u have budget, put them together for 3 days physically for strat session and fun
E1 i do not have any notes about them.
instead i try to find the real interest in each person, to find the beauty/"gift"/talent in each of them, which will allow me to identify them even when i do not remember their name later
One thing that helped my team was adding structured, optional connection points—like async “win of the week” threads or rotating co-work blocks. It gives people space to show up as humans without pressure.
OP, DM if you want more details
Can you share more about your team’s structure? In my old job I had people in 3 locations, all reported to me officially, and didn’t have a reason to interact with each other. I set up a monthly team call, video on, and urged them to talk about anything they wanted - professional and/or personal (weather, vacation plans, etc). And I encouraged them to talk about what they were each working on so they could learn about what was happening. Then I started having the analysts work with the managers informally - analysts were growing and managers were learning how to people manage. Saved me a ton of time so I could be available for truly big matters and it organically led to the team feeling like friends and reaching out to each other more. It took time but it definitely made a difference in how they interacted and worked together.
I had a fully remote role where my team had a standing half hour , informal, “happy hour” meeting twice a week. It was optional but most of us usually went. The rule was to talk about anything other than work. We just showed up and chatted about what we did over the weekend, our pets, what we were watching on TV, etc. You could do these in the morning and call them coffee chats as well.
With larger teams we also had a bi-weekly, more organized happy hour where we would play online games and stuff.
If you have budget you can look for paid (by the company) virtual activities like cooking classes, virtual tours, etc. Anything to get you doing something “fun” together that’s a bit different from the routine.
Nothing beats the occasional (quarterly or yearly) in person meet up.
Always make time for small talk. Ask about weekends, inquire about local area if geographically diverse, ask how pets/kids/SO/family are when you hear about them. People will engage to different degrees but I haven’t met a person who doesn’t appreciate when people authentically care about their lives. Rarely is anything so urgent that we don’t have 2-3min to ask how your day is going.
