Hi, I'm leaving Citi in 2 months. It's hard to make this decision. I have an offer from a small startup. In citi, my previous experience was not considered and was reskilled to different tech which is the reason for change.I don't like to exit citi. As I like the company so much. But considering my current knowledge,I am in the middle of the sea.I am afraid now that the new company's offer would be revoked due to this recession?Or can I take back my resignation in citi before the last working day.Is this wise decision?

Everything is negotiable. Also, you should not have such a wide range for yourself. $85k-$150k is a huge difference. You need to narrow down to an exact number you’re looking for and don’t accept a salary significantly lower than that. You also need to do research and find out how much your job pays for your industry in your city. And also make sure you have enough skills, experience, education to justify asking for the salary you’re asking for.

Oh gotcha. Yea everything is negotiable. Definitely try to negotiate after they give you an offer. Be strategic and do your research when you come back to them with your number.
Negotiate. If they want you, they will make it work
If you are good at your job and believe you are worth what their top pay is. Then ask for it and tell them why you’re worth it. They were offering it so convince them you are worth it.
I just wanna say, yes it’s negotiable, but I have an issue with companies posting misleading salary ranges. If you’re not willing to pay up to $150k, why post it that way? Definitely take that into consideration when deciding if you want to take the job.
Every company is different, of course. In the case of my employer, though, I can tell you that the advertised range represents the absolute minimum and maximum as defined by Accounting/Business planning. As a general rule of thumb, I encourage my employees to target the 25-35% range if the new job represents an increase in their resonsibility/authority, and the 50-60% range if the new job is essentially a lateral move in terms of responsibility. The top 1/3rd of the range is basically off limits - it only exists as a way to retain existing employees who have been in their role for a significant period of time.
Based on the range you provided, I would recommend the following:
If you are new to the role/title and it represents an expansion of your current responsibilities, I'd accept an offer in the $101,750 to $107,750 range. If you've already successfully done jobs at the experience level the company is looking to hire, then I'd ask for $117,500 to $136,000 range.
I think $125k is a reasonable target to shoot for, depending on candidate experience.
Always try to negotiate.
That really isn’t a wide range for a pay band. Now it’s too wide for you setting you own high and low. . When you see a range - average it which will be the median pay for the position. Then from there you can negotiate. Find your own high and low within the payband range and negotiate that.
Whether you can negotiate depends on if the role has a stated fixed salary policy. When no such policy exists, you're certainly in a position to negotiate once salary discussions begin or when you receive an offer. However, if the job posting clearly states the compensation is non-negotiable, attempting to negotiate could risk your candidacy. If the maximum they're offering falls below your minimum acceptable salary, it's best to focus your efforts elsewhere rather than pursuing this opportunity. Wishing you success in your job search!

Yes. Definitely negotiate.
Wide range roles are there to attract more people not to actually pay that amount. Most jobs will avoid paying the top of the range. They will low ball the candidate. Some jobs are really trying to budget for the middle range. However, if you’re stellar and your accomplishments prove so then go for what you’re worth because you’ve shown and told them your worth. If they don’t accept that then maybe it’s not the place for you or you can still negotiate to a reasonable value.
