I'm looking to make the jump from a 10-lawyer firm to a mid-sized or larger firm in a major market, with just 1 year of experience as an associate. Is it too soon to lateral? Looking for more stability in workload and consistency in pay. Currently paid only when a partner gives me work... not ideal.
Who successfully avoids turning on their Zoom video for most meetings? I always use the excuse of weak internet connection, and it usually works 🤔😏
I am looking for job change in the field of External Audit & Financial Services. My experience is with PwC as an Senior Audit Analyst for 2.9 years. Also a part qualified ACCA. Any opportunities/referrals will be highly appreciated.

Hi all need some advice. I am currently working as a consultant at PwC post mba . Current base is 16 , 3jb , 10-30% variable. Based on this I got a hike from a startup I was interviewing with. Base 24 , esops -5 (paper money right now since early stage). Is this a good offer? Considering PwC will give market correction to a base of 20 ?
What's your A/R per month or per quarter? Please list area of law and years of practice. So many posts about billable hours but at the end of the day, isn't it all about the dollar dollar bills y'all?
So I’ve been talking to this guy I met on a dating app. And we’ve been talking over the phone and FaceTiming for about a month now. We live in different states but would want to meet up. Is it reasonable to ask if he’s talking to other women? Or is that pretty standard with these dating apps to be talking to multiple people until you both decide to be exclusive. Just wondering if it makes sense to ask that now or I’m probably just overthinking the whole thing.

If you’re going to leave BigLaw, when is the best time to leave? I’m around 2.5 years now but thinking of sticking out to 3 before leaving. Will that make a difference or better off just looking for exits now and not worrying?
Can anyone give insight to the culture at Cozen?
I recently (August 2021) took a job in-house in Houston after leaving a firm. My partner lives in LA but freelances so the decision was to take a good in-house job and then he would move to Houston and work remote. However, he’s started to get great directing and editing gigs in LA and now it seems impractical for him to move to Houston or even split time. I love my company but their HQ is in houston and they won’t allow remote work. Continued in comments…
How do you tow the fine line between sticking up for yourself and not talking back to a partner? For context, our firm has seemingly started making a paper trail for layoffs and I disagree with some of the emails that I have received. I want to respond in a way that covers my own ass. However, I don’t want to piss anyone off, especially if I have read the situation incorrectly.

Post the biggest lies in big law. I'll start: "Our firm values WLB."-HR on Orientation Day.
Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP Anybody else upset over the differing policies at Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP regarding WFH (attorneys required to be in office 3x/week while others required 4x/week)? Appreciate the flexibility but doesn’t seem right to have separate policies.
How does your firm keep track of billable hours? Are you measured by month or year or both?
Is it normal to have a yearly requirement but get emails/phone calls any month you come in “short” (below the estimated monthly requirement to meet your yearly goal) regardless of whether you’re on track to meet or exceed your yearly requirement?
What's the least amount of time in which you've either drafted or opposed a dispositive motion?
Repeat question, ish. What is the income and year out of law school for solo practice attorneys. Also, i would like to know the approx size of the county you work in and type of support staff.
Have you ever reached out directly to an office's managing partner about a job posting, rather than applying through the website? If so, what did you say in your email?
What’s pay for in-house position for a 5-7th year associate - Lit and employment. Obviously depends on company but generally, what are some of you making? I need to figure out if In house is the right move financially for me and my family.
I have practiced law for several years and still struggle with the feast-or-famine nature of my practice. (Sudden rush of client outreach, many emergencies, then … nothing). A famine week might be 3-4 billable hours/day. My practice area does not have a predictable annual cycle, like “year end” or “tax day.” Any tips from other attorneys for how to recognize, predict, and/or even out these periods?
For the litigators, how many of you actually proofread letters drafted by your paralegals before they are signed and sent out?
What are peoples thoughts on the impact of employer's posting the salary ranges in a job posting for the employees who currently hold that same position? My (3y junior assoc) NYC based ID firm just posted the range for roughly my same position and the max (130k) is significantly higher than my current salary (95k). I know ID is typically an underpaid and overworked area of the law but I'm worried people with less or similiar experience than me are being hired for much comp. Advice?
I have to prepare a litigation budget in an employment/breach of contract case. I have no idea on where to begin and I’m anticipating that the opposing party is going to make discovery like pulling teeth. Any tips on where to begin?

Definitely not too soon to lateral, especially since you’re looking for something that your current firm likely cannot accommodate.
It’s not too soon! I lateraled after my first year from a small (5 lawyer) firm to a regional mid size firm. I cited career growth and more complex work as motivating factors.
Not too soon, I did the same thing after 6 months, everyone (old firm and new firm) understood
I lateraled recently after a year at my first firm. Went from a boutique with 40 attorneys to a midsized firm with 200. Best decision I could have made.
