It'll help you stay sane if you remind yourself that it's not your job to convince anyone of anything. If they choose not to listen to your ideas, it's on them when the lack of diversity in their projects comes back to bite them. All you can do is do your job well, offer your opinions when you feel it's right, and keep collecting your paycheck.
That’s true, but it’s so frustrating having people look over you.
First of all, if someone dismisses you because you're young, just shrug it off. That's always happened. People in ancient Rome probably gave rookies a hard time. As for not listening to what you have to say, that's largely because you don't have a lot of experience which would bestow upon you some credibility. In time people will realize you're credible and you'll be listened to.
It just sucks that so many people have to go through it, I wonder if there’s a way to break the stigma?
Ignore them I would say- carry on working hard and show your bosses how valued you are.
Probably the best way to do it really, actions speak louder.
