I’m only a couple years in and already realizing I probably picked the wrong practice area. The work just doesn’t fit me. Switching now feels better than waiting, but I worry about looking scattered early. Has anyone changed practice areas this soon and how did you explain it?

I agree with Recruiter 1. It is better that you figure that out now and make the switch. it won't make you look scattered, trust me.

Agree with all the comments here. Better sooner than later. I switched area from municipal law to commercial law earlier in my career, and I never regretted it.

Sooner the better. It gets harder as you get more senior.

Agree. I’m trying to change after 15 years in family law and it’s tough.

Boutique or big 4?

I'm currently an ops manager at a big 4 in London and received an offer from a small boutique firm with 25-30% pay rise.

I'm also in the process with Accenture but I feel like I'm not sure if I'd jump just for the money but also change in environment.
What type of things would you be asking yourself if you were in my shoes and debating to jump ship?

I interviewed at a law firm and had my final round last Friday. The Tuesday afterward, I got a call from the recruiter saying the firm won’t have a decision for another week. Any tips for countering the $130k offer for more using the other potential offer while not risking a complete withdrawal of the current offer?
