You get shit on by the SMs while simultaneously dealing with your senior's shit.
@ey3 that's sweet you think we all make that much. 🤓
SM1, pay me over $200k a year and I'll happily remain a manager.
Are you a female? I ask this because they say a big gender issue is females dread promotions because they see it as more work and males see it as a way to relieve work. My experience is more responsibility with experience makes this job more enjoyable
@Ey3 stay a manager... it was the best!
You will be fine OP. Think about the first time you drove on a highway after many practice runs in parkings lot or empty local roads-- it seems scary but you will get the hang of it in no time. Congrats!
I think that's natural, at least that's how it was for me. Obviously delegation becomes critical, I think one important aspect of this is learning how to trust others to do the work well enough and in their own way. Otherwise your going to be anxious and stressed.
Won't lie - it's a lot more hassle dealing with people issues but overall it was a very smooth and natural transition for me. Managers are essentially Seniors with more admin and client facing responsibilities. Can't wait to be Senior Manager now ;)
I'm a third year female manager and really enjoy manager now... But it's time to go for director and I don't want to :( The rule in consulting is once your comfortable at your level, it's probably almost time to go for the next one.
What I feel it will be like. Is it as bad as I think it is? What are the real differences between senior and manager?
