I’m in between projects. I have been for a while now. So if anyone is looking for a freelance copy and u/x writer, put me in coach! I’m available to work.
Check out my portfolio and let me know if we’re a good profit match.

I’m also open to feedback on my portfolio. Thanks!

Case studies aka tests are normally done for us for strategy roles, and director and above roles. I’ve probably placed 10+ pm roles here and we have never done a test or case study. A few thorough interviews by the team with clear and concise questions to ask and probe about experience, process, and what if scenarios should more than suffice for a PM role.
This was exactly my thought. Thanks!
I don’t believe in tests for PM roles - I usually ask candidates what’s the most complex project they worked on and drill down. Asking about real experiences vs hypotheticals gives you a better overview of candidate’s skills, as it won’t filter out people that are only bad at interviewing.
There are a few on Indeed I’ve been asked to complete in the past. I’ve also been given hypothetical situations and been asked to come up with draft project plans, but honestly I would only draft a full project plan for a job I really wanted.
I’ve had to do a writing test before. I don’t think it’s necessary.
The best interview Q I’ve gotten was “tell how you would make your favorite sandwich”. Helps assess creativity, order of operations, and cross functional project approach
haven’t had to test for any of my 5 PM roles and don’t really think they’re needed… but the interview process should be thorough enough where you can recognize the candidate is experienced vs. bluffing
Please don't do tests. I fully believe there is no need for PM roles, especially lower level ones
For what it's worth, this sounds exactly like the kind of role I'm currently looking for.. but I'm pretty green.. just got my CSM and CAPM

I only had two assessments on indeed. What I liked was outside of the job description. I received real insight into the type of projects. The second role I turned down earlier since I was able to see the projects aren’t something I want more of. They were also 30 minutes max. However I was submitted to a product manager role at Apple. I’m waiting for the recruiter to confirm what’s next if my resume gets selected.
I have never done one but I think it's a great idea. I would do one for critical thinking
I've been through a few where I went through role playing exercises in groups, just to show how I would respond in different situations as a PM
I took a technical assessment basically showing my level of comprehension and fluency with the standard project management tools

sometimes I'll take schedule or timing that an account person or biz dev person put in a deck and ask the PM to build a Gantt and consider things like internal reviews, client review/feedback/approval cycles, etc.
Either that or just asking them to present one of theirs to me. It shows whether they understand and consider those details, if their use of language, acronyms, etc. is clear/functional, if they understand nuance and can speak at an appropriate level of detail. Also shows if they can use their own weapon of choice.
Can also do the same with an SOW. You can tell a lot about a PM by the kind of RACI they make or admire.
I did a case study for my current job. Was given a sample project and asked to talk through a rough timeline and estimate.
Yes I have. Map out a three month plan delegating to five team members.
Out of my 6 agencies and many interviews in between, I've only had to do it once (with Havas Health and You) and found it to be really obnoxious, but I've also seen people get hired who couldn't construct estimates or project plans, too, so I suppose it can weed the really unqualified people out.
The one I was given was a case study of some sort and creating schedules and providing ballpark estimates for brand launch deliverables.
