Is your boss also their boss? If so, that’s very strange. I would definitely mention feeling singled out, and maybe suggest a teamwide practice of adding availability to your Teams status (instead of posting in the group).
I think you can frame it in terms of efficiency. Like instead of having to go back to the group chat to see if someone’s there at a specific time, you can just check that person’s status. (I haven’t used Teams in a while, but there’s a spot where you can type in a custom status, right?)
Have you brought this concern up?
I’m sorry you’re going through this. You’re right it won’t get better so I need to say something. Hoping the situation improves for us both!
No you aren’t and it’s even more obvious is ita just you doing it. I would ask if there is a business reason or need for you to still post in the chat if it’s already been reviewed and approved by management
He said it was to lead by example and increase communication across the team since we all sit in different areas of the building. I ask myself why am I the only one leading…
Are you all reporting to the same manager? If so not at all. Apart from all suggestions above, I would also use opportunities when your male peer is out but hasn’t posted it, and ask the manager “is xxx out? I didn’t see it in the group channel so I thought he’s not, aren’t we all supposed to post it?”. And see he’s response and go from there. Make him talk about it, better in writing, so you have something to show he’s double standard when questioned.
It’s really up to you and your preferred style of problem solving. And the thing here is that you’re not the”problem child” because your manager is the problem. It’s such a power move and I usually don’t entertain that.
If I were you, I will probably ask in a genuine way cause truth is that I don’t understand. Not sure when but since a certain point in my job I started become quite blunt with 0 overthinking when I’m confused. I do it with no assumption of intentions from others, more in a “help me understand” way. If he’s still being a jerk, then I guess try getting whatever you want to get from this job as fast as you can and then out we go.
You are definitely looking into this too much. That’s not fair.
